Aruba: The Island of Giants

 For me, quarantine has made me loathe where I live. That sounds pretty bad, but it is very much true. I'm tired of seeing the same off-white houses, the same old mister walking his tiny shi-tzu around the block, and the same neon lit fast food signs. I want to go somewhere in the Caribbean where the beaches stretch for miles and the sun beams for hours. I want to go to Aruba! And I want you to come with me!!

Before we pack a bag and go 1,634 miles towards the Caribbean, there are a few things we should know about Aruba.

When should I visit Aruba? Book accordingly to your schedule!! Though it is important to note that there are high and low seasons on the island. The high season runs from December to March and the low season goes from April to November. Carnival is a huge part of the high season and Aruba's island celebration! 

What is Carnival? Carnival is a celebration of life, music, and people! The first Aruba Carnival arrived in 1955 which led to the creation of clubs and several districts on the island. The Aruban Carnival kicks off every year at precisely 11:11am. How cool is that? 

Just imagine instead of making a wish in your bedroom at 11:11am, you could be eating Aruba's popular food Pastechi (a deep fried pastry pocket) and enjoying high-strung music and dances!!

                       

What can I do in Aruba? Besides enjoying the Carnival festivities you can find comfort and relaxation on the many beaches that are on Aruba. Aruba also has a deep rooted performing arts scene. They have may theater and music venues located all over the island.

    Love your post! Your writing was amazing and I felt the need to keep reading more! You should try describing what kind of entertainment we would see at the carnival or what kind of music would be played during the carnival! Overall the writing and photos were very appealing!!

How I Feel About Blogs

 When I first read the syllabus and found out that blogging was apart of this course, I was both nervous and slightly excited. Nervous because blogging is something totally new to me and I kind of stressed myself out in thinking this was going to be the most difficult task ever. But excited because this was something new and I get to express myself without having to write thousands of boring essays. Blogging doesn't stress me out . I don't know why. The last English course that I took required me to write about 4-5 essays the whole semester and I HATED every minute I spent putting in work to them. Something about the word "essay" and "semester-long" and "minimum 1,500 words" when spoken by a professor gives me the heeby-jeebiez and makes me absolutely hate my existence. But knowing I have a blank canvas with prompts that are interesting makes me feel relieved and not stressed at all.  Like any other college student,  procrastination is my forte. I ...
